LLP PRESENTS CORPORATE COUNSEL DEPARTMENT WORK-LIFE BALANCE AWARD
TO SODEXO, INC.
FAIRFAX, Va. – Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLP awarded its third annual Corporate Counsel Department Work-Life Balance Award to Sodexo’s legal department and a $1,000 donation in the department’s name to the non-profit organization of its choice.
The award aims to recognize companies that actively initiate and create work environments conducive to work-life balance. An independent panel of guest judges selected Sodexo, Inc., the leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in the North America, as the winner due to the company’s philosophy and the department’s approach toward outstanding work-life balance initiatives and programs.
In addition, Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT) and the only provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions, was awarded Honorable Mention due to its exemplary efforts to support and care for its employees.
“It is fitting to present this award to Sodexo during October which is National Work and Family Month,” said firm chairman Neil Wasser. “It is gratifying to bring positive attention toward the companies that promote and demonstrate a healthy work-life balance throughout the year. The sensitivity and creativity that Sodexo has applied to issues of work-life balance serve as a good example for our profession."
Sodexo’s legal department demonstrated its commitment to work-life balance more than five years ago when they first offered flextime to their attorneys and para-
professionals.
A strong commitment to diversity and community service were among other indicators that the judges noted about Sodexo’s work culture.
“We are excited and honored to be selected as the recipient of this award,” said Robert Stern, General Counsel of Sodexo, Inc.
Robert Floyd, Esq. of Constangy, Brooks & Smith presented the award to Robert Stern, General Counsel of Sodexo on October 6, in front of legal, marketing and diversity staff in Gaithersburg, Md.
Sodexo plans to donate the charity sum to the Sodexo Foundation, which supports hunger-related initiatives and programs to fight hunger in the United States.
