Gas prices and oil companies

I am very concerned with the false hope that Americans are putting into off-shore drilling. If Nancy Pelosi does decide to lift the 30-year moratorium on drilling it will be up to our representatives in Congress to stand strong and make the most practical decision not the most politically conniving. The problem is the Energy Information Administration says that even if both U.S. coasts were opened to drilling, prices might begin to drop by a small amount in 2030. What’s worse, the proposal diverts us from finding long-term solutions to our energy crisis and compounds our efforts to stop global warming. If we had made investments in renewable energy solutions like wind and solar years ago we would be well on our way to energy independence, a new generation of “green collar” jobs, and a clean environment. It’s now up to Congress to set us on the right track and smart Fairfax voters should be asking local candidates Connolly and Fimian what they plan to do if elected.
